Important Items to Consider

STUDENT EVALUATIONS OF INSTRUCTION

Toward the end of the semester, your students will receive evaluations for you and your class via email. You might consider incentivizing them to complete the evaluation by offering some time at the beginning of the class period. You can learn all about SmartEvals here. In particular, if you’d like to add your own questions specific to your course or course activities, you can find the directions for doing so here.

Please note that you are not limited to using this evaluation alone. This resource offers numerous ideas for additional formative and summative assessments.

FINAL EXAMS

Final exams periods must be utilized for exams, presentations, turning in papers, etc. Further, no undergraduate final exams may be offered the week prior to finals week. Please note: your final exam may be scheduled at a different date or time than your class typically meets. The general final exam schedule can be found here.

FINAL GRADES

While your department or college may have a standardized grade scale, the university does not. We are, however, required to keep all students grades on the Learning Management System, Brightspace. We recommend that all grades are posted within one week of the assignment due date.

Twice during the semester (at midterm and final grade time) you will submit your student grades to the registrar. You may do so manually or through exporting them through Brightspace.

Please Note: Grades are typically due in the Office of the Registrar at end of day on the Tuesday following the end of the grading period, however, grades for graduating students are due the Thursday of finals week at 10am (or the Friday of finals week at 10am in the event of a Friday final.)

TURNING IN KEYS

If you received a key to your office/office suite, please turn it in to your supervisor prior to leaving the university.

EMAIL/ACCOUNT ACCESS

Provided the faculty member completes the semester, account access will terminate fourteen days after final grades are due  in order to allow for grade submissions, student grade disputes, etc. If the faculty member leaves UIndy before the semester ends, access will terminate on the last day worked as determined by the supervisor.

Employees whose employment is ending but will remain actively enrolled in classes will be required to continue their student work with a new UIndy account.
