Receive mail as a UIndy student resident

Students that live on-campus are able to receive mail. This article is designed to articulate the mailing process at UIndy and what residents can do to help mitigate any issues. Please feel free to share these details with family members who would like to send you something.

Packages and items mailed to residents must be addressed with a student's registered name. Packages without an individual recipient, and having nothing more than the University’s name and address, cannot be easily distributed.

Pick-up packages

Student Package Pickup, Esch Hall 042, serves as the distribution point for student packages received from USPS, UPS, FedEx, and Amazon. Bulk deliveries of packages are made daily by the carriers at various times. Once packages have been formally received and processed by the BMO staff, students will receive an email indicating when a delivery is ready for pick-up.

  • A delivery message sent by the carrier itself, indicating that a package has arrived on campus, does not mean that it is available for pick-up. Students will receive an email from the BMO indicating when a delivery is ready for pick-up.
  • Small packages will be delivered to student mailboxes. No messages will be sent about these packages.

Pick-up standard mail and small packages

Students will not receive an email notification for mail distributed to mailboxes.

At the beginning of each term, on-campus student residents will receive a new university issued mailbox. UIndy mailboxes are located in the basement of Esch Hall. The combination to assigned mailboxes can be retrieved at the Business Mail Office with a photo ID.

The Business Mail Office is located in Esch Hall, 046 and is open Monday thru Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Roberts Hall and campus apartments

Both Roberts Hall and the on-campus apartments have their own mailboxes. Students residing in these locations will not receive a mailbox in Esch Hall. Students should seek assistance from their building's administration for access to these mailboxes.
