Creating an Assessment using Markup Language

The Markup Language option to create an assessment, allows you to "markup" a text file, basically format it a particular way and then copy and paste the reformatted file.

With the Markup Language option you need to either (1) enter all the questions at once or (2) create several different assessments/pools with your sets of questions.

We recommend that you create a "pool" of questions and then randomly select either a sub-set of the questions or all of the questions in random order. That way students do not get the same set of questions in the same order.

Alternatively, you can create an assessment then copy all the assessment questions to a pool. Note: you need to create the pool before you can copy an assessment  to it. When naming your pool, be sure to include the course name because all of your pools are in one location in ACE.

We also recommend that you randomize the answers, when it makes sense. You do not want to randomize answers when you have choices like (1) a and not b, (2) all of the above, (3) none of the above.

The video (4:53) below demonstrates how to create an assessment (or pool) using Markup Language.
