To grade a Forum Discussion using a rubric:

• Create the rubric in the Rubrics Tool
• Remember: if you want to share your rubric across multiple courses you might want to include your program or course name with the name of your rubric. All rubrics shared across the institution will appear in the Shared Rubrics list. Having additional identifying information will make it easier for you to find your rubric.
• Select Forum or Topic Settings
  • If you select Forum Settings and have not created Topics, the settings will filter down when you create new topics. If you already have your Forum and your Topic select Topic Settings.
• Scroll to the section below Grading and you will see a section for Grading Rubric
• Select the Use the following rubric to grade this topic radio button
• Select your rubric from the drop down list
• You can also view the rubric by selecting View Rubric
• Save your changes
• You now have access to your rubric when you grade your forum discussions
