Present from MirrorOp on laptops

Wireless presentation is a service available on most flat panels and projectors. This service allows for devices to connect wirelessly to flat panels and projectors in most meeting spaces and classrooms on campus. Using this service can be done through the MirrorOp app. Once you download the MirrorOp app on your device, you may access the service from UIndy, UIndySecure, or UIndyGuest wireless networks.

Connecting a laptop

Before MirrorOp can be utlized on your laptop see Install MirrorOp on your laptop directions .

  1. On your laptop launch the MirrorOp app.

  1. Enter in the IP address provided on the display screen.
  2. Click Connect.

  1. Enter the Login Code provided on the display screen.

  1. Now you are connected to the display screen. Optionally, you may favorite the location for future use by clicking the star symbol to the right of the location. The star symbol will turn blue once favorited. This will register the location and IP address, which may be beneficial in locations used regularly.

A new Login Code will be required each time you wish to connect even for favorited locations.

  1. You will first need to click on the triangle symbol to reveal MirrorOp control panel. This will cause part of the MirrorOp window to collapse.

  1. To mirror your laptop's screen onto the display screen, click the play button.

Clicking the pause button will freeze whatever is on the display screen at the time it was clicked but will not disconnect a user from the display screen, and they will remain the active user of the screen. To resume screen mirroring, click the play button.

  1. To finish mirroring your laptop's screen to the display screen, click the stop button.

  1. To disconnect from the wireless presentation system, click the X on the MirrorOp control panel. This will close and disconnect the MirrorOp app on your laptop.

Moderated Session (managing multiple presenters)

In some circumstances it may be beneficial for a single individual to control which connected devices are displayed at any given time. This allows an instructor to manage up to 20 presenters and prevents any other users from taking over the display at an inappropriate time.

  1. Once connected and before any other presenters connect to the wireless presentation system, open any browser on your connected device.
  2. Enter the IP address shown on the display in the browser address bar.
  3. Click on the Moderated Session link.

Managing presenters in a Moderated Session

In addition to full screen mode, users are able to control the area of the display screen (or quadrant) in which a device's screen will be mirrored. This feature can be useful when there is need to have multiple presenters using the display screen simultaneously. During a Moderated Session, the control of these quadrants is limited to that of the moderator of the session. The following image is an example of a display screen using quadrants and their allocated numbers.

  1. To select a device and begin display, click on the Full Screen icon next to the name of the desired presenter.
  2. To stop full screen display, either click the Full Screen icon next to another device or click the Stop button to go back to the Standby screen.
  3. To display a device in a single quadrant, click the quadrant number next to the desired device.
  4. To stop quadrant display, click the Stop button next to the device.
  5. When finished, click the Logout link in the top right-hand corner.

Displaying in quadrants

An additional feature of MirrorOp is the ability to control the area of the display screen (or quadrant) in which your device's screen will be displayed. This feature can be useful when there is need to have multiple presenters using the display screen simultaneously.

  1. To select a quadrant from the MirrorOp control panel, click on the four square icon to expand a drop down menu.
  2. Click desired quadrant.
  3. As needed, users can return their device's display to the entire screen by clicking on Full Screen.

If an individual user takes control of the full screen, other users will remain in their quadrants when the full screen mode is ended until individually disconnected.

Audio

In addition to mirroring the display of your laptop, MirrorOp offers audio capabilities.

  1. Presenters are able turn the sound output of the display screen on or off at any time. First, navigate to the MirrorOp control panel.
  2. Next, click the speaker icon to toggle between mute and unmute. This will only impact the audio of the display screen.

Windows 10 - by default, sound will play simultaneously through both your laptop and the wireless presentation system.

  • Volume is controlled manually by either the volume settings of the flat panel or the dial on the control panel for the projection system.
  • Alternatively, audio can be muted by the speaker icon as described above.
  • Volume control for your laptop is controlled by the volume settings on the laptop.

Reconnecting to favorite display screens

One of the features of MirrorOp is the ability to save the IP addresses of display screens in locations used regularly. The following are steps on how to quickly reconnect to those display screens saved to your favorites list:

  1. On your laptop, navigate to the MirrorOp app.

  1. Find the name of the display screen in your current location. Click Connect to the right of the desired display screen.

The 'Connect' option will only appear when your cursor is hovered over the name of a favorited display screen.

  1. Enter the Login Code (Passcode) generated on the display screen in which you are trying to connect.

  1. Once the Login Code is entered, your system will connect automatically, and MirrorOp is ready for standard use.
